Tasks of the Maoist revolutionaries in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is simmering with un-resolvable class and national contradictions and caught up in a spiral of organic political crisis. It is being held together by a fractured and defunct feudal-colonial / comprador-bureaucratic state propped up by world imperialism. The so-called “peace process” is in crisis. It is held together by a fragile cease-fire. The “peace process” has resulted only in facilitating direct foreign penetration into the lifelines of the island- politically, economically and strategically more than ever before. The US has entered into the “Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement” with the Sri Lankan state, which provides it with free access to all land, sea and air military facilities. It is training and modernizing the armed forces on a new level, including the intelligence services.  India has gained access to the strategic oil tank facilities in the Trincomalee harbor. The CIA, MOSSAD and RAW are having a field day all over the island! The World Bank and the IMF has sunk their fangs even more deeply into the economy. The people face a spiraling cost of living. They have no hope for the future. Extremists, racists, and fascists have gained access to state power. The fractured ruling class plays a deadly game of chess to grab state power, while the Tamil nation- and the people- bled by two decades of war, is held hostage. The people pay the price for the politics of a blood-drenched, genocidal, fascist-terrorist feudal-colonial state enforced by a parasitic, corrupt and defunct ruling class, propped up by world imperialism.

The foremost duty of the Maoist revolutionaries is to forge their conscious and principled unity to rebuild the Ceylon Communist Party –Maoist, on the solid foundations of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. A party of a new type, a genuine vanguard revolutionary Maoist Communist Party must be built by destroying a deeply entrenched revisionist- economist past. It must be built on the basis of forging the most advanced scientific proletarian revolutionary theory, line, program, strategy and plan in accordance with the concrete conditions of the Lankan revolution. This is to be done through the course of deepening revolutionary practice in advancing the class struggle and building the organizational unity, strength, discipline and fighting capacity of the proletariat, in unity with the oppressed masses and nationalities. This has proven to be a tortuous task. There are many barricades to overcome: The task has been compounded by repeated desertion, capitulation and splits internally. By the destruction caused by the terrorist insurgencies of the Revisionist/Social-Fascists and the crass betrayals of the Parliamentary revisionists. By the over-determination of the National Question and the dominance of the bourgeois ideology and politics of chauvinism and nationalism. By the lure of the illusions of the open–market economy, accompanied by the virulent, anti-Communist, narcissistic ideological onslaught of imperialism. The chief subjective factor, however, has been the inability to forge a vanguard of genuine Maoist revolutionaries to undertake the task of rebuilding the party. Yet, those who have steeled themselves in struggle and who continue to have un-shaking faith in the masses, in world revolution and in MLM shall continue their efforts towards building the party. They will do so in order to advance the Lankan revolution in the context of hastening the world revolution and the worldwide victory of Communism.
