YCL a "criminal gang" or Girija himself is a ringleader of Criminals?

A Maoist youth organisation, Young Communist League YCL had arrested a corrupt bureaucrat Sitaram Prasain and handed him over to the Nepali police demanding take action for his crimes. Sitaram Prasain, the former chairman of Nepal Cottage and Small Industry Development Bank (NCSIDB, was one of the corrupt bureaucrats and so was one of the unique models of the state bureaucracy of the Nepalese old state system. He is defamed for nepotism, corruption, and money fraud during his tenure in the bank. Nepal Rastra Bank had asked police to arrest Prasain for his crimes.

Thanks to the strong political support and protection from the parliamentary parties, police had failed to arrest him. What looked like a paradox were not only his public appearances despite arrest warrant, but also he offered a night dinner to the parliamentarian leaders on which Madhav Nepal of UML and Ramchandra Paudel of the Congress party participated. It was clear that these leaders and their parties were giving all out protection to these criminals.

As the police had failed to arrest him, the YCL arrested from within Kathmandu valley. He was brought to the open theatre (Khula Manch) and was produced before the press conference. The YCL valley in-charge Comrade Sagar said, Prasain had admitted committing banking fraud. He further said that the YCL would continue to take criminals and corrupts under control. Comrade Sagar added, "People will be compelled to punish such criminals on their own if the police fail to initiate actions".

Following the arrest of corrupt bureaucrat Sitaram Prasain, serious blows are dealt against the corrupt bureaucrat capitalists and their ringleaders. Nepali Prime Minister Girija Koirala, who is also the chief of Congress party, is the one who had lost mental balance upon his arrest and handing over to the police. He termed the YCL as "young criminal league" and vowed to take action against this organization. Similarly, one of the Nepali ministers Pradip Nepal, who is also a central leader of the UML Party was another figure who lost mental balance. Pradip Nepal termed YCL as "criminal outfit".

The arrest of the corrupt bureaucrats has drawn entire country to a serious debate. Shanta Shrestha, a member of the interim legislature, from the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), speaking at a special hour of the interim legislature said Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has  lost mental balance. "The mentally unsound PM should not continue…he should be taken to the mental hospital for treatment," Shanta said. A huge applause echoed the legislature hall for several minutes following her comments.

Comrade Krishnabahadur Mahara, a Central Committee leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) as well as an information and communication minister of the interim government said, "PM's views sprung out of the criminal mentality".

Chairman Prachanda had said in a programme that "Koirala is the leader of criminals". The medias have reported that Chairman Prachanda commented that the Prime Minister Koirala’s remarks that the YCL being as “young criminal league” only signaled that Koirala himself is giving protection to criminals.

In the meantime, the YCL has issued a statement and raised a serious objection against PM Koirala's remarks. His effigies were burnt across the country, and the YCL has demanded that the Prime Minister must make a public apology for his lunatic remarks.

It is note worthy that the YCL has been a thorn under bed for these parliamentary leaders since this organisation begun to clean cities, constructing roads, arranging traffic system, stopping hooliganism and looting in the cities and arresting the smugglers and corrupt bureaucrats.
